Spanish language & Basketball Camp is the result of a partnership between ZadorSpain Spanish language Schools and Baskonia Basketball and Sport Foundation.
ZadorSpain, operating in Vitoria since 1990 and in Alicante since 2004, organizes study abroad programs for foreigners looking for learning and improving their Spanish language skills and having a rewarding language immersion program in Spain.
Caja Laboral Baskonia Basketball Club has a long history, reaching this year 2009 its 50th Anniversary. Baskonia, through its Basketball School, has been organizing Summer Basketball Camps for more than 30 years and Basketball Tech Camp in the last 10 years.
What forms are required in order for my child to participate?
First, you can read the Basketball Camp Enrolment Process. We hope it will help you.
You can enrol your child on-line, you can download the Enrolment form and send us by email or fax or we can send the enrolment by email. You have to fill in all the information.
You have to send us also a photograph of your child by email.
In addition, you have to send us a Parental Permission Form signed, a Questionnaire about Basketball and a Medical Certificate, and that is all.
Summer Camp is in a safe area? Are campers supervised?
Absolutely! Your child's safety is our first priority. Premises for the Summer Camp are in the suburbs of the city in a very quiet and safe area.
If Basketball Camp participants have residence accommodation, are highly supervised. Only during their free time (and they do not have a lot) or during the time to rest they could be in the common rooms or watching TV without camp counselors, although they are in the building.
Teens have to participate in all the scheduled on-campus and off-campus activities and in all the activities are adults with them.
Only campers with 16 or 17 years old can go out of the camp or of the host family alone if you send us a Signed Consent. However, if campers go to Vitoria city centre, you have to take into account that they are no buses runing after 22:00 and youngsters will have to take a taxi.
What is the history of the Basketball Camp?
Baskonia Basketball Club is a Sport Club with a long history: 2009 is the year of the 50th Anniversary of the Club!!!
The institution have gained special reputation among the Basketball Clubs in Spain and in Europe, thanks its professional organization and thanks the triumphs of TAU Baskonia Basketball Team -now Caja Laboral Baskonia-, being considered as one of the best teams in Europe.
Baskonia Club supports a Basketball School for children and teens for more than 40 years, organizing camps in summer time for all levels.
Ten years ago Baskonia started to organize a special Tech Basketball Camp for intermediate and advanced youth basketball players: Well qualified trainers, professional basketball coaches with experienced assistants, trainers who understand individual capacity of the youngsters joining the camp and work with them to gain knowledge regarding basketball, team work, language and education.
Can parents join the camp?
The camp is designed for teenagers and parents are not encouraged to participate. For parents who want to visit Spain while their children are in the summer camp, we can suggest different hotels and activities or we can arrange necessary lodging and activities for them to enjoy their stay for a fee. They also can attend a Spanish course for adults. Please feel free to enquire for further information.
How is the weather in July?
Temperatures are moderate and usually there is no rain. The average temperature in July 2007 was 19°C the average of the maximum temperature was 27ºC and the average of the minumum, 11ºC.
Whith these temperatures it is always recommendable to take a jacket or a thin pullover in the evening, just because it can get cooler from 8 or 9 pm. This also happens in the early morning, but at noon, you will need to take the pullover out since it will be hot.
What meals are provided?
As they are playing hard, the meals provided are apropriated for people doing sport activities, with 3 meals —breakfast at 8:00/8:30; lunch at 14:00 and dinner at 20:30— and 3 dietary supplements —juice, fruit, yougurth, snaks or sandwichs at midday, afternoon and before going to sleep and a plenty of water to keep campers from dehydration.
Meals are healthy and abundant and thus we do not think it would be necessary to buy more food, but if one camper thinks that it is "impossible to survive without "?"", we recommend him to bring it, because once in the Camp it would be difficult to go to the supermarket.
You can consult the list menu for the camp.
