We have listed some of the questions that we are most frequently asked about the Youth Basketball Summer Camp and our answers. If you cannot find the answer to your question below, then please don't hesitate to contact us by e-mail or phone. We look forward to hearing from you!

Vitoria, Spain

1. How can I get the Basketball Camp?

Transfer service -arrival on July 4th or July 11th- from Bilbao and Vitoria airport, Vitoria bus station or train station is included in the package price. A representative of the school will pick campers up and bring them directly to their place of accommodation or the BasketballCamp Facilities, depending on the arrival time.

For arrivals at Bilbao airport, there are 1 Group transfer in the morning -13:00 h- and 1 group transfer at midday-afternoon -15:00 h.

For departures from Bilbao airport, there are 1 group transfer in the morning at 9:00 am.

For arrivals or departures before or after Group Transfer times, we provide a private transfer with an extra cost.

If you want to come with your children or organise the trip own your own, the easiest way is to arrive to Vitoria airport (Foronda). It is located 9 km from Vitoria city centre and it takes about 15 min. by car. There are domestic flights that connect Vitoria with Madrid and Barcelona.

The nearest airport with international flights is Bilbao (Loiu), approx. 45-60 minutes from Vitoria by car. TEL: Airport information: 94 486 96 63 / 64 Flight information: 905 505 505. If you do not want to rent a car, you can take a taxi to Termibus in Bilbao city center, and then take a coach of LA UNION to Vitoria. Buses run every hour from Termibus Bus Station to Vitoria.

If you arrive to Madrid or Barcelona another option is to take a train. You can check times, frequency and prices on www.renfe.es

2. Is Vitoria a big or a small city?
For Spain, we can say that Vitoria is a medium size city. It has around 240.000 inhabitants.
3. How is the weather in July?

Temperatures are moderate and usually there is no rain. The average temperature in July 2007 was 19°C the average of the maximum temperature was 27ºC and the average of the minumum, 11ºC.

Whith these temperatures it is always recommendable to take a jacket or a thin pullover in the evening, just because it can get cooler from 8 or 9 pm. This also happens in the early morning, but at noon, you will need to take the pullover out since it will be hot.

4. Can parents join the Basketball camp?
The basketball camp is designed for teenagers and parents are not encouraged to participate. For parents who want to visit Spain while their children are in the basketball summer camp, we can suggest different hotels and activities or we can arrange necessary lodging and activities for them to enjoy their stay for a fee. Please feel free to enquire for further information.
5. If I want to visit my children, where I can accommodate?

As in all cities, Vitoria offers different possibility for visitors’ comfort: from hotels to rural houses, apartments… There are 4* and 5* star hotels, such as the Gran Hotel Lakua (5 stars) or the hotels Gasteiz, Canciller Ayala, or Ciudad de Vitoria (4 stars). Another of the important hotels in Vitoria is the General Álava Hotel (3*). The offer is completed with smaller hotels such as Almoneda, Páramo, or Dato and apartments such as San Fermín or Dream Park. As you may imagine, prices go from 40 to 130 or more euros.

Spanish lessons

1. How do you know my Spanish level?

There are some questions on the enrolment form about your Spanish knowledge. With your answers we can get an idea about your Spanish level.

On Monday you will have a written test and an interview. With this information we can place you in the apropriate group according to your Spanish level.

If you are beginner, you will have Spanish lessons the first day.

2. How many students are in a group for the Spanish lessons?

There is a maximum of seven students per classroom.

Our small-group Spanish lessons will:
- allow you to get the most from our personalized teaching,
-facilitate active and dynamic participation in class,
- maximize the use of classroom interaction techniques, thus facilitating your ability to speak Spanish.

3. Do the teachers speak English during the Spanish lessons?

No, but do not worry if you are a beginner: it is a question of few days. It is an immersion program and therefore you will surrounded by Spanish everywhere.

Many of our students have no previous knowledge of Spanish. Our teachers have the training and the experience to teach beginners and the total immersion system allows you to learn very quickly. We have a Spanish/English translator as part of our staff, who will be glad to help you communicate if you have any questions for the administration.

4. Do I need to bring something for the Spanish lessons?

It is a good idea if you have your own pocket dictionary, some pencils, some pens and a note book.

The first day you will receive a file with the teaching material or a book.

5. What are the lessons about?
You are going to have a General Spanish course and depending on your levels you will learn vocabulary about different topics. Of course, you are going to learn many words about basketball.
5. Do I get a course certificate after finishing my Spanish class?

Yes. You will recieve a Certificate of Attendence, with the number of Spanish lessons that you have attended and your Spanish level.

6. Will I have access to the Internet?

If you bring your own computer, the apartments have WIFI access.

7. When the Basketball camp will be finished could I stay longer?

Yes. You can continue learning Spanish in our school in Alicante. In Vitoria, we have only a Basketball Camp. If you want to practice other sports, in ZADOR Alicante there are different Sports Camps: Tennis Training Summer Camp, Windsurfing Camp and Sailing Camp.

Zador staff will help you in arranging the trip from Vitoria to Alicante and we can organize your transfers from your accommodation to the airport, bus or train station at any time.

Activities

1. Are the ticket entrance included in the price?

Yes, all the tiket entrance or price for the activities are included in the price. However, if students want to drink or to eat something out of the camp, students have to pay for them.

2. Are the transports included to go to activities?

Yes, all the transports to go from the Residence to the Basketball Camp Area and for the off-campus activities programmed are included in the price. In some cases are public and in other private transport.

3. Are students accompanied during the activities?

Yes, there is always at least one group leader every ten campers in the activities programmed.

4. Is it lunch included during the excursions?
Yes. Depending ont he excursion, for example in the excursion to San Sebastina, students receive a package lunch.
